Carnival of Venice 2020 Photo Gallery
Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to experience my first Venetian Carnival. Despite my initial expectations that I wouldn’t enjoy the carnival that much, I was taken back by the experience. I really enjoyed admiring the attention to detail of the magnificent costumes. This combined with the mystery of not knowing who’s hiding underneath the expressionless masks. Seeing these masked figures in front of Venice’s most famous landmarks is a beautiful sight. It really gave me a renewed sense of appreciation for how extraordinary and unique Venice is. Here I’ve put together my 2020 Carnival of Venice photo gallery!

The Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia) is one of the city’s most popular attractions. It takes place annually, usually in January or February, and lasts for 2-3 weeks. The Carnival ends on Shrove Tuesday, the feast day before the Christian celebration of Lent begins.
Visitors flock from all over the globe to experience the Venetian Carnival. The celebrations include parades, costumes, performances, masks, dinners and balls.
Those participating in the carnival wear extravagant costumes, often handmade. Costumes are finished off with a mask to hide the individual’s identity.
